Agenda
KFU President Donn Teske provides a brief welcome and introductions by staff, District BoD members, and chapter members.
We’ll spend a few minutes for an overview of the Virtual Roadtrip to Convention, including upcoming education sessions, and procedures for our first ever online state convention.
Mary Howell, KFU Membership and Education Specialist, offers information on assistance to the counties on their membership.
The floor is then turned over to members to conduct their annual chapter business.
Message from President Teske:
In this strange time we find ourselves in Kansas Farmers Union is also in a challenging position of having to bring our state membership together via zoom or phone instead of in-person at one location for our annual convention. This adds a whole new level of challenges and accountability to an event that always requires a lot of our energy to normally pull off anyway. But we will get it done.
This unique time also offers an opportunity to reach out to the entire state membership, the in-active as well as the active to explore opportunities to regenerate a segment of our membership we’ve neglected too long, those county chapters not electing leadership and representation for their chapter to represent them at the state convention level. This will enable any and all KFU members to interact with those of us on the state BOD and each other in your area.
As challenging and stressful as our lives are right now this really is a wonderful opportunity to interact in an easier way than all of us putting on miles.
The main thing I will miss in our virtual convention this year is the energy and networking that always happens in a face-to-face convention, but we will get by for this year.
Please consider participating in the district meeting and your chapters call. We intend to have speakers from the KFU staff, the Midwest Insurance Agency, and the National Farmers Union. Every member deserves the opportunity to make their voice heard.
Leading up to convention there will be a series of Thursday evening calls:
10.29 FARMERS UNION: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow
with KFU President Donn Teske and NFU Amateur Historian Tom Giessel
11.5 COVID-19’S IMPACTS ON MEAT PROCESSING

with Sami Tellatin

11.19 WASH. DC UPDATE
